Mani’s Maketh Man

Good male grooming starts with well-shaped nails.

Treat your husband, boyfriend, father or just a friend to a flight aboard a First Class MWnails jet.

Our men’s treatments are carefully designed to be exactly what a man wants from a mani or pedi.

We use only the best quality products… our therapists are all expertly trained. And it’s on an airplane! What more could any man want?

Choose from manicures like the Manhai Shape (12) to the Spruce Goose (29) and on to Ground Control (39), the perfect men’s pedicure. Avoid that jagged ‘just cut with clippers’ look and get their nails looking buff.

Professional manicures are a must for the well-turned-out gentleman.

After all… mani’s maketh man!

Exciting news! We’re expanding – and we’ve launched a brand new brand

Our fabulous nail bars are now open in Chester & Manchester – with a totally new look and feel.

Our sister nail bars have the same gorgeous colours from OPI and essie, the same carefully selected professional products and the same expert nail care… but their own brand new brand!

You can now visit our fresh new nail bar in Chester and Manchester.

And, we’re recruiting…

MWnails b&w2So, if you’re a qualified nail technician or beautician with NVQ Level 2 or beyond, and you’re based in the North West, drop us a line.

We’re looking for highly professional, friendly nail and brow experts to join our team.

We’d love you to be part of this exciting new journey!

Don’t forget to share this with people you know in the area – and if you have a friend you think would suit the role, let them know to get in touch. Thanks!

Professional Beauty

A few months ago we were delighted to receive a request to be a guest speaker at Professional Beauty North, held in October in Manchester.

This prestigious industry event attracts over 20,000 visitors and showcases the best of the beauty industry.

Sitting on the panel with Henrietta Flynn (aka Henny, from our senior team here at MWnails) were fellow guest speakers Sara Shoemark of Glow salons and Beverley Bayes of Sparcstudio. The focus of the session was to look at “Creating the wow-factor in salons and spas for competitive advantage” with the discussion led by the Editor of Professional Beauty, Eve Oxeberry.

Henny has a background in business consultancy and was able to share some of the ideas we have put in place at MWnails, all based on sound marketing, management and customer service principles. And all designed to make sure that every aspect of the business runs fluently.

It was also a great opportunity to highlight some of the pitfalls that salon and spa owners can fall into – and share lessons learnt from the panelists’ own experiences within business and the beauty industry.

With three such experienced panelists, from such diverse backgrounds, it really was a great session.

So, now we’re looking forward to the next one. Roll on Professional Beauty 2013!

Nail Art… What’s It All About?

There’s a fascinating article on the whys and wherefores of nail art in the Guardian today. From Rhianna to Lady Gaga to the girl next door, it seems we’re all at it – and nobody quite knows why.

Starting off at Scratch Magazine’s brilliant Nailympics, Kira Cochrane takes a wander through the history of nails.

There are plenty of theories why we love having painted nails – from them being an affordable treat in our cash-strapped times to the idea they confer status in a class-concious society. Whether you subscribe to the academics’ theories (or have a completely different view) is entirely up to you…

But, whatever the reason for our digit-al obsession, we still think a healthy set of professionally painted nails looks gorgeous. And sometimes that’s reason enough.

London Fashion Week… featuring MWnails!

When the Captain announced we were off to London Fashion Week, we naturally thought it was another of his extravagent shopping forays.

But no. Not this time.

This time we were pairing up with our good friends at Essie and delivering First Class nails to models and gorgeous fashionistas.

Three of our crew donned their parachutes and leapt out from our Flight Decks.

With the beautiful Leena landing backstage at the Clements Ribeiro show, she painted a bespoke nail art under the careful guidance of Essie’s celebrity nail guru, Anatole. (And what a completely delightful chap he turned out to be!) The design featured a lighthearted reverse french inspired by schoolgirls drawing on their nails with black ink and Tipp-Ex – to stunning effect!

Meanwhile the utterly lovely Christine and Anca stepped in to run the Essie nail bar for five days! At the Fashion Monitor Style Lounge – housed in the exquisite May Fair Hotel. Painting the hands of the great and the good in Essie’s fabulous new 2012 Fall colour palette has certainly kept them busy and the tweets of thanks have made us all proud.

So, all in all, it’s been an absolutely fabulous few days, darlings!

One of the UK’s best nail bars!

We’re delighted to be listed in this month’s Professional Beauty Magazine as one the UK’s best nail bars!

Beauty industry professionals voted MWnails in the top three most inspiring Nail Bars in the country.

This a wonderful accolade and we are all (clearly!) delighted by the results.

Autumn Watch – A/W ’12 trends – nail colours

Here at the MWnails Flight Decks we’re often asked for our new season nail colour trends.

We all know how difficult it can be to truly predict what colours people will go with – and one of the joys of nails is that we can change our colour with every outfit we wear.

There’s no denying that nails, and nail colours, continue to be big news. There are some amazing shades, finishes and textures out there – not forgetting the stunning nail art designs our crew and other nail artists are creating. But what colours are going to feature on our fingertips over the coming season?

50 Shades of Grey?

(And we don’t mean that racy novel filling Kindles everywhere!)

Taking our lead from the cool classic beauty displayed by Chanel, we think clients could start yearning for darker shades – such as Chanel’s Vertigo. Essie have obviously got some stunning dark greys and we’re predicting a shift back to those stronger hues that work so well on paler winter skin, like Essie’s Up’s and OPI’s Every Month Is Oktoberfest from their Germany collection.

We also think Essie’s Berry Hard could continue to be a favourite and OPI’s new The Spy Who Loved Me might become a nail bar winner.

And, for the nudists amongst you, we think you’ll be loving OPI’s Don’t Pretzel My Buttons.

But, as marvellous as our esteemed Captain is, even he can’t see into the future.

So, during the Summer we’ve been tracking colour choices… We’ve noted down every nail colour choice made by our clients. Just to see whether there are any clear winners. And which shades really tingle our tips!

Want to know the results?

Top Ten Essie & OPI Colours – Summer ’12 at MWnails

  • Essie     Jazz
  • Essie     Blanc

And the winner is…

We’ll keep tracking the A/W 12 trends and let you know in January if the predictions were right!

London Nail Bar – And We’re Flying!

It’s all systems go at MWnails as we launch our brand new website for our London nail bars.

It’s one year on since we opened our first nail bar in Holborn. With the second nail bar in Spitalfields opening this year plus looking after the 1000’s of people who have flown with us things have been a bit busy!

But! We have finally found time to give our website a makeover. We hope you like it. Everything you want to know about MWnails and our First Class treatments and service is here and (hopefully!) easy to find. Please do let us know if there’s anything you think we can improve – we love to hear from you.

So, it’s doors to manual and time to take your seat, fasten your seatbelt and enjoy the flight!

With many thanks to all our wonderful crew for being the faces of MWnails and for their talented nail art creations featured on the site.
